The National Commission for Culture and the Arts invites the public to an inspiring exhibition at the NCCA Gallery this May. The Silaw Artist Collective presents MANA, a contemporary art exhibition that examines the complex relationship between commodification and environmental conservation, with particular focus on the Masungi landscape.

Through a compelling body of work, the exhibition raises critical questions on the stewardship of natural resources—challenging audiences to reflect on the tension between preservation and exploitation. MANA engages viewers in a timely discourse on biodiversity loss and the consequences of short-term gains that may lead to long-term environmental degradation.

The exhibition features a collection of artworks that articulate diverse perspectives on the interaction between human activity and the natural environment. It serves as both a reflection and a call to action, encouraging deeper consideration of the ecological systems that require protection and the shared responsibility to safeguard the country’s natural heritage.

Visitors are likewise invited to explore the role of art in shaping public consciousness and fostering environmental awareness and stewardship.

Curated by Eghai Roxas, the exhibition brings together works by the curator alongside artists Melvin Culaba, Henri Cainglet, Derick Macutay, Randy Valiente, Benedicto Modesto, Raul Jorolan, Eric David, Beck Dollisen, Mentis Maris, Mike Jacosalem, James Carlo Mendoza, Crisanto Aquino, Rara Carillo, and Jao Isaiah Perez.

In celebration of National Heritage Month, the exhibition offers a meaningful engagement with contemporary artistic practice and its role in advancing cultural and environmental discourse.

The exhibit runs at the NCCA Gallery from May 7 to 30, 2026. Gallery hours are from Monday to Sunday, 9 AM-6:00 PM.

ABOUT MASUNGI. The Masungi Georeserve is a conservation area and a rustic rock garden tucked in the rainforests of Rizal. Masungi’s name is derived from the word “masungki” which translates to “spiked” – an apt description for the sprawling limestone landscape found within. In this sanctuary, guests are able to commune with nature and reenergise themselves while doing so. https://www.masungigeoreserve.com/
