Decades ago a great and wise man told the world in a very short video message that nuclear weapons has to be eliminated from the world and that all invading armies has to be retreated and dismantled. He told the world that this is the task of courageous women and men.
He emphasized that this is the most important thing mankind has to do. His name was Mario Rodriguez Cobos, better known as his pseudonym SILO, creator of Universalist Humanism
and the Message of Silo. He was the bringer of hope and human transformation in the dark times humanity is going through.
But his strong appeal did not mobilize the millions of people to demand the elimination of nuclear weapons and the dismanteling of agressive armies and warmongering military alliances.
Humankind was distracted by other appearantly more urgent issues.
And here we are, in today’s world, wreched by wars and military conflicts, and real danger of the use of a nuclear weapon again. In our distraction we have let mad people in power, especially in the Western hemisphere, do their destructive work for many decades and it seems we have forgotten the desasters of two World Wars and nuclear bombs thrown by the US on 2 Japanese cities in the last century. We cry out loud against the Israeli attemps to destroy a whole Palestinian population in Gaza, but we are not in the streets to demand an end to a violent and mad System that is the cause of all wars, deaths and inmense suffering.
We react to the last violent expression of it, which in itself is a good and courageous act, but which does not end the root cause.
We are still distracted by the ever faster accumulation of the use of terrible weapenry, without asking ourselves from where all those high tech weaponry is coming. And now in the western
hemisphere our nihilist governments are gearing up military spending to meet the demands of an obsolate military alliance called NATO. And still we are not in the streets to demand an
end to all violence and the dismanteling of all nuclear weapons and the Military Industrial Complex.
And do not believe for a minute that this nihilistic, violent and greedy System will do anything to solve the ever faster climate change. That is naïve wishful thinking as long as the world is
ruled by the Military Industrial Complex and it’s croonies.
We can wait until something so terrible will happen that it will shock our consciousness so deeply that by pure necessity we will start to act, or we can start now to do the thing this great and wise man Silo invited us to do some decades ago. All of humanity is involved in this crucial act because all of humanity is at stake.
There is no meaning in violence and destruction. It is the dark road to extinction. The open future of mankind is rooted in love and compassion. For love and compassion to thrive, the demand for the end of all violence is necessary. Because it is undivisible connected to feeling the suffering and death of millions of people as our own suffering and death. And all that suffering must be stopped!
