4th Universalist Humanism Summer University (Toledo): “Nonviolent Revolution: A Path Toward Humanization”

The Universalist Humanism Summer University is celebrating its fourth edition this year, with the theme “Nonviolent Revolution: A Humanizing Path.”

As in previous years, it will take place over three days, from September 11 to 13, this time at the Toledo Park for Study and Reflection.

Why was this overarching theme chosen for the activities taking place this year? Undoubtedly because violent events are escalating, and a response is urgently needed.

“We are witnessing the collapse of institutions and the rise of individualism, which is causing confusion and the breakdown of values and beliefs,” state the organizers. “And while part of the population is paralyzed, others are rebelling to change the situation. Continuing with the current system only prolongs the pain and suffering we are experiencing. For us, the only valid solution is a nonviolent revolution toward a more humane society, one that rejects violence and places power in the hands of the people.”

Over the course of the three days, there will be lectures, workshops, roundtables, and recreational activities… in which participants will present, exchange ideas, and work on various essential elements needed to make such a transformation possible.

You can view the PROGRAM here.

Topics will include personal and social transformation, the awakening of consciousness, peace processes, disarmament, internationalist and student movements, feminism, reconciliation, AI and education, health, the environment, housing, art, spirituality, and how to strengthen our inner faith that this revolution is possible… all to imagine together and move closer to the future we are already building.

Of course, different generations will come together, and there will be plenty of fun, just like in every edition.

Participation is free, but it’s important to register to help with organization.

You’ll be able to follow the opening ceremony and the panel setting the tone for the conference via streaming, and there will be online sessions on topics such as Basic Income and Care. In any case, in-person participation is prioritized.
