Severe uncertainty has arisen surrounding the Indian cricket team’s tour of Bangladesh scheduled for this coming September. A direct scheduling conflict emerged as a new international series against Afghanistan was added to India’s calendar right in the middle of the previously scheduled bilateral series against Bangladesh. With two international matches against different nations falling on the exact same date, the tour of Bangladesh is now effectively on the verge of being canceled or rescheduled once again.
Direct Scheduling Conflict and Core Issue
According to the original itinerary mapped out by the BCCI and BCB, India was set to travel to Bangladesh in early September to play a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is. However, a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan- set to be hosted in New Delhi- was recently incorporated into India’s international fixtures.
The core dilemma centers specifically around ‘September 13’:
* Bangladesh Tour Schedule: India was scheduled to play its third and final T20I against Bangladesh on September 13.
* Afghanistan Series Schedule: On the exact same day (September 13), India’s first T20I against Afghanistan is scheduled to take place in New Delhi.
Logistically and practically, it is impossible for a national team to field a squad for two separate international matches at different venues on the same day. As a result, this direct overlap makes the Indian team’s tour of Bangladesh virtually unviable under the existing schedule.

* India vs Bangladesh: 3 ODIs, September 1, 3, and 6 | Bangladesh.
* India vs Bangladesh: 3 T20Is, September 9, 12, and 13 | Bangladesh (Uncertain).
* India vs Afghanistan: 3 T20Is, September 13, 16, and 19 | New Delhi, India.
History of Rescheduling and Current Status
Notably, this white-ball series between India and Bangladesh was originally scheduled to take place in 2025. It was later postponed and rescheduled for September 2026.
As of now, neither the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an ‘official joint statement’ confirming the cancellation. However, sports analysts suggest that given the direct scheduling conflict, holding the tour as planned is no longer feasible. An official announcement from both cricket boards is awaited to clarify whether the series will be canceled entirely or pushed back to a later date.
